The Hardiesmill Herd is based on the famous Thornton herd and has  both old Scots Bloodlines and, consequently, the original Scots Red Aberdeen Angus gene. Heifers and steers are fed on a diet of grass/grass sileage, so what you see is what you get - growth rates of upto 4.0kg/day on grass, the cheapest, most natural feed you can get. As for bulls, they've got to be good to be taken out of our award-winning beef scheme.  This means  they've  got to have four good legs, a good length, a good width, a super temprament (all are children, dog, men and women friendly) and an attractive appearance.
