Environment
As well as the Hardiesmill Herd, we are fortunate to have a huge array of wildlife living at Hardiesmill Place, both in the stubble fields, where the crops were grown earlier in the year, and in the two Sights of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) on the farm.
This includes:
- grey partridge
- hare
- pheasant
- pigeons
- rooks
- corn buntings
- Sparrows
- pewits (wagtails)
- larks
- water vole
- trout
- and even otter.
We are also privileged to have minimal light pollution (star gazing is compulsive on a clear night) and spectacular sunsets most weeks. Guests who stay in Jake’s Cottage (the old farmhouse, now a holiday cottage) are usually able to enjoy most of these in any given week.
